Ashley Walters: bad boy made good

Subject

BMA Entertainment News

Description

Robert Crampton talks to Ashley Walters about acting, racism, prison life and escaping Peckham. I liked Ashley Walters when I first interviewed him six years ago when he was 22 and I like him now that he’s 28. He’s negotiated a potentially difficult childhood, the dangerous business of success at a very tender age – as rapper Asher D with So Solid Crew – a stretch in prison for carrying a gun around, followed by big-screen stardom in Bullet Boy (for which he won most promising newcomer at the Independent Film Awards). He’s learnt the right lessons.
