Description
A local author is using the power of photography to build up Black men in the community and tear down negative labels.
Damon Mosley said he’s using his portraits of Black men from Columbus, catching them mid-smile to paint them in a different light.
“We’re portrayed as criminals, drug dealers, just scary bad guys, or as a threat, as opposed to being human and my mission is to humanize black men,” Mosley said.
Mosley said his book, titled Smile For We, is part of a movement to stop a negative stereotype seen in movies and on TV.
