Subject
Principal; Black History Month; Calvin Taylor
Description
Firsts are an oft-celebrated part in history, heralded as pioneers in their fields. In 1982, Calvin Taylor became the first Black principal at Palm Beach Gardens High School. But that distinction “means absolutely nothing” to the veteran educator, who worked in the country school system for 33 years. Instead, Taylor, now 82 and a Wellington resident, prefers to focus on the impact that his presence made on his students, Black and white, and how that resonates to this day.
