Description

I still consider going to West Green Primary School in Tottenham as one of their Black History Month guests to be one of the highlights of my long and (some would say) illustrious career as a writer and broadcaster. Not because of ‘black history’. In fact, I ended up not talking about ‘black’ or ‘history’ at all. But because the image of a hundred children sitting cross-legged on the well-polished floor of the school assembly hall, all ears and with hope in their eyes, remains indelibly etched on my mind.
