Description

Sudanese magnate Mo Ibrahim stirred debate in announcing that Pedro Pires, the former President of the Cape Verde, was the unanimous winner of the 2011 Award for African leadership. Though Cape Verde might be a small country, this is not what matters when it comes to performance. On Monday 10 October the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, through its Prize Committee, announced Cape Verdean former President Pedro Verona Pires as the winner of the 2011 Ibrahim prize for Achievement in African leadership. The announcement was made at the same time the Foundation published its Index on the state of governance in Africa.
