Ian Wright has quit his role as a football pundit for the BBC, saying he was forced to become a ‘comedy jester’. The former England and Arsenal striker said the corporation’s coverage was too stuffy and that football fans could not relate to the presenters. “Times are changing,” the 40-year old said. “I don’t know how long young people are going to want to sit down and watch that same old ‘jacket, shirt and tie’ format.” Ian criticised the role he was given as a football pundit, saying: “I feel like I’m just there as a comedy jester to break the ice with Alan Shearer and Alan Hansen who just do run-of-the-mill things.
